The rocks had a shell of ice, with snow on the ice... microspikes can help in a situation like that, but not much! The air was cold, 18 or 19 degrees, and my foot was perhaps an inch above the water, so I really did not want it to get wet! I was trying to be careful, but I had to hurry and work fast, because that sun was not going to wait!
